Japanese airlines announce system recovery after cyber attack

TOKYO:

Japan Airlines has announced that it has fixed the disruption to its website, which was caused by a cyber attack yesterday.

The airline has confirmed that the attack did not result in the leakage of customer data and did not result in any virus or damage.

According to the company, this cyber attack started around 7.30 am yesterday, due to which not only domestic but also international flights were affected.

The attack suspended the airline’s ticket sales, but the process has now resumed.

Japan Airlines has apologized to customers and others affected for this unfortunate situation. The airline has also assured that the safety of the flights has not been affected.

According to officials, the attack was likely a “DDoS attack,” in which large amounts of data are sent to make websites temporarily inaccessible.

Despite the attack, the airline’s systems have been fully restored and flight operations have returned to normal.
