Keery recently went viral after officiating his friend’s wedding in the outfit worn by his ‘Stranger Things’ character
Joe Keery, who plays the iconic role of Steve Harrington in Stranger Thingswent viral last month after being spotted at his friend’s wedding, officiating in a Scoops Ahoy costume worn by his character.
Recently, at the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere in Los Angeles, Keery addressed the situation after being prompted by his co-star Maya Hawke.
“You officiated a wedding in the Scoops Ahoy outfit?” she asked, to which Keery replied, “It was a Halloween wedding for my friend, Veronica and Matt. And so, everyone was dressed up but the picture only shows them in their wedding dress and just me in the Scoops Ahoy costume.”
Probing further, Hawke asked Keery whether the couple had asked him to dress specifically as his character.
“It was her request,” he revealed, adding that the costume was the same one that he wore on set. “It was a little…It felt a little different,” Keery replied when asked whether the 8-year old costume still fit him.
Meanwhile, he is to return as Steve Harrington in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things as it premieres on Netflix in three volumes releasing on November 26, Christmas and New Years Eve.
