Karachi:
Police detained more than a dozen workers of MQM London from Makka Chowk Azizabad.
MQM London had announced to celebrate Martyrs’ Day on December 9, for which the workers gathered near Makkah Chowk, the police dispersed the workers by lathi charge.
MQM London workers are present in different streets of Azizabad, heavy police and rangers have been deployed around Makkah Chowk. Among the arrested leaders of MQM London are Nisar Panhoor, Aftab Bakai, Altaf Mengal.
On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, MQM London had announced attendance at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Jinnah Ground Azizabad and recitation of Fatiha at the graves of Martyrs of the Movement at Yasinabad’s Martyrs’ Cemetery.
MQM London had said in its declaration that Fatiha reading and Quran reading will be organized in different cities of Pakistan including different countries of the world on Martyrs Day.
It should be noted that MQM celebrates Martyrs Day every year on December 9 in memory of party founder Altaf Hussain’s brother Nasir Hussain and nephew Arif Hussain who were killed on December 9, 1995.
Like in the past, MQM London had announced to go to the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Azizabad Karachi for reciting Fatiha this year, but the police and Rangers failed this attempt.
