Karachi; Two officers of the Water Board involved in water theft

The CEO of the Water Corporation suspended two officers, taking strong action against the officials involved in theft of water in the city.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab visited various areas of the city and reviewed the current situation related to the prevention and provision of water theft and on the occasion, CEO Water Corporation Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and other senior officials including COO Water Engineer Asadullah Khan were accompanied.

Mayor Karachi inspected the ice factory Nazimabad in front of Lasbela Bridge, Lyari River, Musharraf Cinema Nazimabad, Saifullah Bangash Ada and Silica Machine Factory near Ganj Colony, and the purpose of the visit was to further effective and accelerate the crackdown against water theft in the city.

During a visit to different areas of the city, Mayor Karachi said that a completely transparent and neutral scrutiny of water theft would be conducted.

He expressed his commitment that water is only the right of the citizens and the water of the people will not be wasted in any case.

On this occasion, Mayor Karachi directed that strict legal action be taken against those involved in theft of water and departmental action should be taken against the officers involved.

In this regard, CEO Water Corporation suspended two officers involved in theft of water in immediate action, the suspended officers include Executive Engineer FTMSM Ahsan and Executive Engineer CTM Ehsanullah Sheikh.

A notification for suspension of both officers has also been issued by the HR Department of the Water Corporation.

Mayor Karachi further said that discrimination would be taken against any officer or officer involved in theft of water and all steps would be taken to ensure a fair and uninterrupted supply of water to the citizens.
