Pakistan LPG gas blast: A terrible accident occurred in Hamidpur Kanora area of Multan in Punjab province of Pakistan. A tanker filled with petroleum gas (LPG) exploded, killing at least six people, including a minor girl, while 31 others were injured. This accident happened on Monday (27 January) in a commercial estate, information about which was given by the officials on Monday.
According to Geo News report, the fire spread due to the explosion in the LPG tanker. This fire was so severe that the debris of the damaged vehicle fell into the nearby residential areas, causing huge damage in the surrounding areas. Rescue officials said that relief work was started immediately to extinguish the fire, but many people lost their lives and dozens were injured in the accident.

Multan Commissioner took big steps
Multan Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan said that the blast site has been completely sealed as gas leakage is still going on from a bower at the blast site. He directed officials to prepare an inventory of LPG containers in the division and ban the presence of gas tankers in heavily congested areas. He also directed the teams to raid illegal CNG and LPG refilling shops and seal shops operating without proper equipment.
The commissioner ordered fitness check of school and passenger buses and registration of case against persons involved in illegal gas refilling operations. Later, the Deputy Commissioner of Multan formed an inquiry committee which was tasked to submit a report on the incident within 48 hours. He said that the district administration will take strict steps to prevent such incidents in future. The official further said that entry of LPG container trucks has been banned in residential areas.
