LS passes key invoice to revive states’ energy to make their very own OBC lists

Lok Sabha on Tuesday handed a constitutional modification invoice to revive the powers of the states to make their very own OBC lists, with 385 members voting in its favour and no member opposing it.

Some amendments moved by opposition members have been rejected by the House.

A constitutional modification invoice requires a particular majority for passage in each Houses of Parliament.

There must be a majority of the full membership of the House and a majority of not lower than two-thirds of the members of that House current and voting.
