Maharashtra Men Kidnap Chinese Men: Four Indian citizens have been arrested from the central part of the country on charges of kidnapping a Chinese citizen from Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. The police gave this information on Wednesday (January 15, 2025).
Government daily ‘Gorkhapatra’ quoting Nepal Police said that a special team of police on Tuesday arrested Ashutosh Dattatreya (32), Amol Karmate (30), Afsar Shaikh (40) and Amol Srisat (33), residents of Maharashtra, in Kathmandu. Arrested from a vehicle with Indian number plate going from Hetauda. He told that there was also a Chinese citizen in the vehicle.
Why did Indian youth kidnap a Chinese citizen?
Indian nationals claimed that they kidnapped the Chinese national because he had cheated them in the name of illegal gambling. Police said they acted on a tip-off to arrest four Indians on the Hetauda-Bhimphedi-Kulekhani road section of the Kathmandu-Hetauda highway. Police said both Indians and Chinese appear to be involved in criminal activities. Police said that they have started investigating the matter.
Arrested 90 kilometers before the Indian border
The four youths were trying to kidnap a Chinese citizen and bring them to India, but Nepal Police caught them 90 kilometers before the Indian border. These four youths were staying in a hotel in Themal, the busiest place of Kathmandu for the last three days and the Chinese national was kidnapped late on Tuesday night. However, as soon as the police got information about this, immediate action was taken and CCTV cameras were searched.
