Former President ICCI Ahsan Bakhtawari expressed happiness over Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) tax to GDP ratio crossing the target agreed with IMF by December 2024 and attributed this achievement to Pakistan. It has been declared as an important step for the recovery of the economy.
Ahsan Bakhtavari said in the statement that instead of putting more burden on the tax payers, there is a need to expand the tax net so that more and more people become part of this network.
He said that there are many people in the country who are able to pay taxes but are still outside the tax net, bringing these people into the tax net is necessary for the further improvement of the country’s economy.
He said that the expansion of the tax net will not only increase tax collection, but it will also lead to stabilizing the economy, promoting investment and increasing government resources.
Ahsan Bakhtawari said that adding new people to the tax net will be a great achievement for the government, which will further contribute to the development of the country, so the tax system should be made more transparent and effective so that public confidence is restored and More people should join the automatic tax system.
