KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has held a consultative assembly to finalise its candidate for the by-polls in NA-245 constituency, ARY News reported on Thursday.
A session of MQM-P Rabita Committee was held on the Bahadurabad headquarters below the chair of convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
The political celebration will mull over the names for giving celebration ticket. The shortlisted leaders embrace Dr Sagheer Ahmed, former chairman East Moeed Anwar, Dr Shahab Imam, Hafiz Shehryar and others, sources advised ARY News.
Earlier within the day, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) filed a petition within the Sindh High Court (SHC), in search of to vary the date of the Karachi NA-245 by-poll.
The petition was filed by PSP Vice-Chairman Arshad Vohra.
The petitioner said that ECP had introduced polling on July 27 which can have an effect on voter turnout resulting from a working day. He pleaded with the courtroom to direct ECP to conduct polling on the NA-245 seat on July 31 (Sunday).
The Sindh authorities, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and others have been respondents within the plea.
