WASHINGTON:
The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iranian institutions and various personalities despite negotiations on nuclear issues.
According to a notice issued by the US Treasury website, the US has imposed new sanctions on Iran, according to a foreign news agency Reuters report.
According to the US Treasury Department for External Asset Control, new sanctions have targeted individuals and institutions in China and Iran.
The report has not given details of the US institutions and individuals imposed sanctions.
Earlier, the United States had banned individuals and institutions affiliated with Iran’s Organization of Defense Innovation and Research, alleging that Iran’s institutions were active in controversial research and defense projects.
It should be noted that these new US sanctions are imposed at a time when the US and Iran are negotiating nuclear issues and the fourth round of talks has been completed recently and Iranian officials have indicated the next round.
Iran has rejected all the allegations, saying that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and is not intended to harm any country.
