Tahawwur Rana Extradition: A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) will soon go to America for extradition of Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attack. Preparations have started for this. On the one hand, while the NIA has handed over the list of officers going to America to the Ministry of Home Affairs, on the other hand, India’s Foreign Ministry is talking with American officials in this matter.
According to a report of the Indian Express, probably on January 30, the four -member team of NIA will leave for America to complete the formalities of extradition of Tahwwur Rana. The newspaper quoted sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs as saying that this four -member team will have two senior officers of IG and DIG rank and two junior officers. The report also said that the NIA has handed over its team’s information to the Ministry of Home Affairs and now the Home and Foreign Ministry is holding a final round of talks with the US officials for the extradition of Rana. The report has also revealed that Tihar Jail Administration has also started preparing to build a high security jail ward for Tahwwur Rana.
US Supreme Court verdict opened the way for extradition
On January 21, the US Supreme Court dismissed the petition of Tahwwur Rana, in which Rana appealed against his extradition. Rana’s extradition was decided after the court’s decision. Please tell that Tehwavur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. He was also a conspirator in the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. David Headley, who raked for the Mumbai attack, was a colleague of Tehwwur Rana. Headley was later arrested from America. During interrogation of Headley, it was revealed that Tawwur Rana joined in the Mumbai attack. After this, American investigating agencies also found enough evidence of Rana’s involvement in the Mumbai attack.
