
During the ceasefire, prisoners were exchanged between Pakistan and India while Pakistan handed over the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) constable and India handed over to the Punjab Rangers’ Muhammadullah.
According to the report, BSF officer Purnam Kumar was arrested on April 23, 2025, for entering the Pakistani border in Gunda Singh/Ferozepur sector.
After the incident, Pakistani authorities completed legal and security requirements, after which it was regularly returned to the Wagah/Attari border today.
A statement issued by BSF India confirmed that Pakistan Rangers had safely handed over Purnam Kumar back to India.

Indian authorities have praised the move and termed it a positive indication.
Sources said that a prisoner of Pakistan and India was exchanged at Wagah Attari Post today, Purnam Kumar Shah of Indian Border Security Force was handed over to Indian authorities while Muhammad Allah of Punjab Rangers was handed over to Pakistani authorities.
The move comes at a time when relations between the two countries are strained. The borders of the two countries are closed and relations between the two countries are still strained since the conflict clashes.
