Pakistan Navy has overtaken India in Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology and this lead is likely to increase further.
Pakistan Navy has overtaken the Indian Navy in advanced Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology, while Chinese-made Hangur class submarines are ready to join the Pakistan Navy fleet as per schedule.
The Indian Navy recently inducted a stealth frigate and a guided missile destroyer submarine into the fleet along with the sixth and final submarine under the P-75 Scorpion project.
Even after this submarine joining the fleet of the Indian Navy, India is still lagging behind as the Indian Navy does not have any submarine equipped with modern technology so far.
In contrast, the Pakistan Navy has three French-made Agusta-90Bs Submarines (PNS Khalid, Saad and Hamza) are already there.
According to reports, Chinese Hangur class submarines will be inducted into the Pakistan Navy in the early 2030s. After the induction of these submarines, the number of submarines equipped with AIP technology of Pakistan Navy will increase to 11.
According to the media report, Pakistan Navy is competing with India’s power ship by ship.
The Pakistan Navy plans to expand its fleet to 50 warships, which will include 20 large warships, frigates and corvettes. Along with this, the Pakistan Navy is also developing a strong submarine fleet of 11 submarines.
Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf told Chinese media that the construction of four Hangur class submarines is continuing as per the scheduled schedule. He said that these submarines will significantly increase Pakistan’s naval capabilities, after which the Navy will be equipped with powerful weapons to carry out various operations.
Admiral Ashraf added, “The project is progressing as per schedule and we expect these submarines to become part of Pakistan Navy’s fleet soon.”
