The Pakistan cricket team was fined 25 percent of the match fee for the slow over rate against South Africa in the Cape Town Test and five points in the ICC World Test Championship.

According to the ICC media release, elite panel match referee Richie Richardson imposed this penalty on Pakistan for reducing five overs in the stipulated time.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, if the team fails to complete the specified overs within the stipulated time, the players are fined five percent of the match fee for each over.

Furthermore, as per Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship Playing Conditions, one point is deducted from the team for each over in such a case.
