Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that those blocking the roads should hold a peaceful protest in an empty field with Mazar Quaid.
Talking to the media at the opening ceremony of Urban Forest in Aziz Bhatti Park, he said that talks are going on with religious parties regarding road closure, I am in favor of peaceful protest but it is not right to cause suffering to people under the guise of protest.
Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad and Director General Parks and others were also present on this occasion.
The 38-acre Aziz Bhatti Park has been managed by KMC since 1992. 2 acres have been earmarked for the park as part of the Urban Forest, in which the city’s first fruit forest has also been established. In this forest, 5000 fruits and vegetables including eco-friendly trees and plants have been planted, including chiko, fig, coconut, okra, brinjal, neem and pars pipal and others. This project is an important step towards restoring ecological balance and enhancing the beauty of the city.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab while talking to the media at Aziz Bhatti Park today said that it is an ancient park of Karachi which was in a dilapidated condition. The town chairman and MNA of this densely populated area are from another party, but we restored the park in practice, not on paper. This is the changing Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto’s Karachi. He said that the personalities who sacrificed their lives for the survival of the country, will pay homage to them. We inaugurated Urban Forest, Fruit Forest and today Vegetable Garden. Now children will be seen playing on these swings. This is the ideology of the People’s Party.
Murtaza Wahab said that the development works are going on in the city and there will be more projects. More tenders are coming in newspapers. In the comprehensive press conference regarding the Water Board, I will tell the actions of the People’s Party to end the water problems of Karachi. I will also hold a press conference on the financial situation of KMC.
He said that in the past KMC was facing a crisis of funds, but today we are earning the same amount per month as the people of the past earned annually. Malir Expressway from Shah Faisal Colony to Qayyumabad will be opened for the public in a few days. The roads of Shah Faisal Colony will be restored so that those going to the airport do not face any difficulties.
Murtaza Wahab said that the people of Korangi, Ibrahim Hydari and industrial areas will get relief in the coming rains. The anniversary of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto turned out to be a historic gathering, never seen such a gathering in the past. Everyone including the elderly and children were included in the gathering. It reflects the love people have for this person.
He further said that the People’s Party urges all the departments to work. By visiting Dalmia and 13D our development work can be estimated. Advise Jamaat-e-Islami to focus on solving the problems. We do development work but our banners and slogans are not visible. Donation-driven parties should get their audits done.
He said that if the chairman of Gulshan, Gulberg and Jinnah town is the head of the water board, water will come only to their towns. He said that negotiations are going on regarding the dharna of religious parties. The protesters told Nasir Shah that we are protesting peacefully. I am in favor of peaceful protest but it is not right to cause pain to people under the guise of protest. Even ambulances and police vehicles are being blocked.
Murtaza Wahab said that some projects which are started without thinking cause embarrassment. Trans Karachi should make appointments first. The administration of Karachi has assured that the issues will be resolved.
Mayor Karachi said that the Infectious Diseases Hospital on NEPA was approved as a trauma center but it was revised due to the location of the service lane. Pakistan’s first infectious disease hospital was given to the people by the People’s Party. It has played a key role during Corona. I will update the next phase of this, we should keep in mind the future needs.
He added that in the past, the city used to be submerged and people used to sit on coffee cups. We have financially stabilized KMC. Next year will be a year of growth.
Murtaza Wahab said that there is an old relationship with Kamran Sahib but the problems are not solved in the Mola Jat style. Explain to MQM people not to oppose heavy traffic on Lyari Expressway.
He said that road cutting should be centralized. Allowance of 50 feet is taken and 500 feet is cut off. Later one department shifts responsibility to another. Sindh Chief Minister and Local Government Minister agree, instead of criticizing Jamaat-e-Islami, come and talk. I want traffic department to regulate dumpers, many people lost their lives due to dumper accidents, legal action should be taken against them.
