PM Modi visit To US: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go on a two -day visit to America from Wednesday (12 February 2025). This visit of PM Modi will be towards further strengthening the Indo-US bilateral relations. The Prime Minister will meet US President Donald Trump during his visit. During this time, the two leaders will also talk about defense cooperation as well as the growing economic and military influence of China.
Planning will be done regarding IMEC
Indo-America is working to further strengthen its strategic partnership in many major areas. The most important of which is the India-Central East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). IMEC is not just a trade route, but it is a strategy designed to counter China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). India’s technology and chemical capabilities will increase through IMEC.
Preparations to reduce China’s influence on sea routes
A 4500 km corridor will be built through IMEC which will connect India with Europe via the Middle East. IMEC will strengthen the global supply chain and eliminate the risks of China’s control on business routes. Currently, China is expanding its impact quite rapidly on several important waterways such as Malacca Strait, Hormuz Strait and Bab al-Dabab.
Adani invests in the field of energy, infrastructure, logistics. The company is making strategic investment in Israeli’s infrastructure and technology sectors. The Adani Group has invested to build a terminal in Haifa port. The Adani Group holds more than 70 per cent stake in the Haifa port, which is an important part of the Indo-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. This will not only strengthen India-Israel’s relationship, but will also give India a chance to set foot in the Mediterranean Sea.
China is helping Huti rebels
According to a report by the Center for International Maritime Security, China indirectly supports Yemen’s Huki rebels by purchasing large amounts of Iranian oil, which gives money to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Instead, IRGC provides weapons to the huts. These weapons are reportedly made in China.
