India France Agreement: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France was very important for India in terms of defense, space, civil nuclear power and technical cooperation. The joint statement issued after bilateral talks by PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron states that there has been progress in Mumbai towards the construction of three more French designed Scorointed Scorointed ‘Hunter-Killer’ submarines.

Actually, India is already operating six Scorpene submarines. Now three more Scorpene submarines will be manufactured in India, whose 60% of the technology will be made-in-India. The estimated cost of this deal is said to be ₹ 36,000 crore. The submarines will include Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology, which will give them the ability to stay in water for a long time.

26 Rafale fighter aircraft deal
India is planning to buy 26 Rafael-M (Naval versions) from France. These aircraft will be deployed on INS Vikrant, which will increase the strength of the Indian Navy.

Cooperation in missile and defense technology
India and France will work together on missiles, helicopters and jet engines. France assured India to consider the possibilities of Pinaka Multi-Farral Rocket Launcher.

Space and nuclear power cooperation
Both countries agreed to increase cooperation in space and civil nuclear power. 10 startups of India will get an opportunity to work in France.
There was a discussion between the two countries to further strengthen cooperation in the health and technical sector.

Let us know that this visit of Prime Minister Modi can prove to be a new chapter in India-France relations. Large deals in the defense sector will further strengthen India’s security capabilities. Cooperation in space and startup sector will technically strengthen India. Now it has to be seen how fast the implementation of these agreements is and how India-France partnership moves forward.
