The unemployment rate in the country has increased to 7.1 percent during the current regime, which was 6.3 percent in the year 2020-21.

In this regard, the Federal Bureau of Statistics has released the results of the National Labor Force Survey 2024-25. According to the Labor Force Survey, unemployment has increased by 0.8 percent in the last five years, and the unemployment rate in Pakistan has increased to 7.1 percent.

According to the survey, according to the census of 2023, the country’s population is 241.4 million 90 thousand, the number of labor force has exceeded 7 million 72 million, the rate of working age population in the country is 43 percent, the inactive population has become 53.8 percent.

According to the National Labor Force Survey report, 3.3 percent of Pakistan’s population is unemployed, the services sector is at the top position in providing employment, the agricultural sector is the second and the industrial sector is the third in providing employment, 3.1830 thousand people are employed in the services sector, the employment rate in the services sector is the highest at 41.7 percent.

The employment rate in the agricultural sector is 33.1%, 25.5530 thousand people are employed in the agriculture sector. The employment rate in the industrial sector is 25.7%, 1 crore 98 lakh 60 thousand people are employed in the industrial sector.

The average monthly wage per capita in Pakistan is 39 thousand 42 rupees, in the last five years the average monthly wage has increased by 15 thousand 14 rupees, in the year 2020-21 the monthly wage was 24 thousand 28 rupees, the monthly wage of men was 39 thousand 302 rupees, 37 thousand 347 of women was recorded.

Chief Statistician Dr. Naeem Al Zafar said that 196 enumerators and 34 field formations participated in the survey, labor force survey data was collected online, the three conditions of the IMF will be fulfilled by December 2025, the results of the live stock census have been released, after the labor force survey, the household income survey will also be released next month.
