PML-Q chief Chaudhry Moonis Elahi on Monday took oath as a federal minister, Geo News reported.
President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Elahi on the President House in Islamabad, days after sources had knowledgeable Geo News that the PML-Q chief could be given a place within the federal cupboard.
Elahi, in keeping with sources, had been named as the following minister for water assets.
Sources had advised Geo News the choice was made within the backdrop of a promise by the PTI-led authorities to their allies, which embrace the PML-Q, that they are going to be given cost of a federal ministry.
Talks to provide MQM and GDA a federal ministry every, as promised, are additionally underway, the sources added.
Moonis Elahi was elected an MNA from the NA-69 Gujrat-II constituency. He is the son of Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
The portfolio for the Ministry of Water Resources was earlier held by PTI minister Faisal Vawda.
He resigned from the National Assembly in March to forged his vote within the Senate elections.
