Karachi:
Another surprising drop in the result rate of Interyear 1 in Karachi has raised serious questions on the entire system of college education and also exposed the efficiency of the inspection department of Intermediate Board Karachi.
The main responsibility of the Department of Inspection of Colleges/Institutions of Inter Board Karachi is to issue affiliations to government colleges and private colleges while the inspection of affiliated government and private colleges is, however, this department of the board has been inactive since the tenure of several chairmen and this department And the committee constituted by the department visits the government colleges of Karachi, evaluates the required teaching facilities and prepares a report in this regard and submits it to the concerned authorities.
Moreover, when the principals of government colleges send their mock attendance to the board along with the examination forms of the students, then the board issues admit cards to the intermediate students on the basis of the same mock attendance. And 80 percent of the students participating in the exams are those who have not even seen the college format for the whole year or the entire session except for submitting the form. Identify them.
It should be noted that the tradition of not taking classes in colleges has been prevalent in government colleges of Karachi for years, on the contrary, students occupy the coaching/tutoring centers operating in different areas from noon to night, government colleges are only responsible for admission, enrollment and Being used merely as a platform to submit exam forms and send to the board.
Currently, there is no system of attendance of students in the colleges, and the college education department does not seem to be taking any practical steps in this regard. There is a shortage, till recently, before the appointment letters were issued to the newly appointed commission pass teachers, there was a shortage of about 2300 teachers in the government colleges of Karachi alone, which still has not made any significant difference. Cause of Karachi Most of the government colleges still have no or lack of teachers of various subjects.
On the other hand, there are no computer labs in government colleges, for the purchase of books, the colleges are obliged to take books only from a federal institution, where most of the college principals seem to complain about the lack of required books. Since the private colleges are privately operated, teachers are there to teach and the attendance system of the students is a bit strict, while the performance of private colleges in Inter is better and the ratio of results is high, there are dozens of public colleges in Karachi. whose student results Years are 20%, 10% and some less than 100%.
It should be remembered that in the recently released results of the intermediate first year science pre-medical group exams, 30 thousand 528 candidates participated in the exams, out of which 10 thousand 914 candidates succeeded in all the six papers and around 20 thousand students failed.
In science pre-engineering group exams 22 thousand 973 candidates participated in the exams and 6 thousand 674 candidates succeeded in all six papers while around 17 thousand failed, in science general group exams 17 thousand 375 candidates participated in the exams and 6 thousand 282 candidates failed. All six papers passed and around 11 thousand failed.
It may be remembered that such a situation also occurred in the last session’s exams when a three-member committee was formed by the caretaker Chief Minister Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir. On the recommendation of this committee, the students were passed by giving 10 to 15% marks, but recently this situation has arisen again.
On the other hand, “Express” convener of the former committee formed on the previous bad results of the first inter-year and vice chancellor of NED University, Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, when contacted, clearly expressed that “based on the findings of the committee, he can say that the inter-board There were no defects anywhere in the examination copies by the teachers who had done the assessment, no unfair “favour” was given to the students and no Only in one copy was the student intentionally failed by giving low marks, but the assessment of the copies was standard and transparent.
On the other hand, a college principal, on condition of anonymity, said that students do not come to college, therefore teachers do not even teach, but at the time of assessment of copies, teachers are seen to be strict on the rules and regulations.
