I mentioned in one of my columns four months ago that Sindh is now slippery by these elders. The people who fired arrows of sarcasm on this matter are also on record. I was still understanding this and is still coming, but today, the movement in Sindh is a movement of lawyers or the movement of the farmers, the workers, the farmers.
There is a history of the movement of farmers and the dignitaries, which began after becoming Pakistan. My family and my family were also part of the movement, but were the axis of the movement. The movement emerged as the largest movement in South Asia and then in the seventies, when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto emerged as a public leader, the movement became declining.
A great name of Sindhi journalism used to say that Bhutto had stolen the slogan of “bread cloth and house” from the Hari Committee. Alice Albina writes in her book “Empires of Indus” that if the movement of the Dahkas had emerged before the Paris Communion, it was, Shah Inayat’s Sufi movement. In which almost 1710 CE had refused to rely on the Mughal king and said that the land belongs to the land, the government or no one else. Which is said in Sindhi that “the dried up” and this slogan was from the Sindhi Hari Committee.
Today, it is apparently for the lawyers, who are sitting on Babar Lou bypass (Sukkur) for six canals and water in Sindh, but is it really so or is the episode something else? For decades, nationalists have been doing politics on this land, but they could not reach the houses. The reason for this was that the urban middle class people migrated from Sindh. The feudal lords filled their place and the Muslim middle class, which was, proved to be weak, who migrated to middle class cities, their statement could not be connected with Sindh and the great advantage of the elders came or got the dictators in the country. In Sindh, the people voted for the people because of the PPP.
The PPP was the leader of democracy till the life of Benazir, and so as long as the PMLN was led by Nawaz Sharif. Now these two parties have lost their old status. Ordinary people can never be connected with nationalists. Then slowly, when Bhutto was over, the PPP resorted to the elders. In Benazir’s time, the big political figures were defeated by the small leaders of the PPP. We also saw the 2007 lawyers movement. Of course, ordinary people were also in the movement, but the number of lawyers was very high. In Sindh today, the lawyers’ movement against the canals is of different nature.
It was not even in the sense that the children of Sindh, Dahqan, die and women, are so reliable in the leadership of lawyers. Perhaps the reason is that nationalists do not reach that they can liberate them from prisons against the elders in Sindh or to go to court for them, but the lawyer can do so.
The lawyer could also fight the police, he trusted the black coat. There was no idea that those who were suppressed under the oppression of the elders would come out like this. These people who have come to Babarlu have arrived here from the corners of Sindh. Nationalist leaders are seven or eight people, but those who are currently dynamic are two or four people. There are contradictions in the ideas of these nationalists, not ready to sit together. This platform was also provided to these nationalists by lawyers and all arrived.
I am also Sindhi myself, but I don’t even know. It is probably only once a year, to attend your parents’ graves. I think “Sindh” is one of the worst nations in the world. They have no proper food, no drinking water, no education quality, neither school institutions nor schools.
There are still bull vehicles operating. 80% of Sindhis are forced to live below the poverty line, they get jobs here. Going to the cities either becomes a driver, houses are employed and if they go to the village, they can make farms. The PPP set examples of bad governance in the sixteen -year -old government, and this bad rule became the fuel of this movement and sit -in.
Today’s Sindh is not the Sindh which was before Babarlo’s sit -in. This is Sindh Post Babarlo Sindh and in this Sindh, sixty years of grief, Vadira Shahi and the federal government are not going to be walking, their gas and Quala and its proper calculation. Monkey distributes the land of Sindh. All these problems were raised by the nationalists and today when it comes to water, then they realized that their water was now going. Drought is taking place all over Sindh. Indus Delta’s residence is migrating there.
In this background, people felt that the PPP was suffering from conscience, they were not properly interpreting the interests of the people and people also believe that the PPP is a party of elders and that it is a spokesperson for the interests of the elders. Similar changes have come to other provinces. Balochistan has said goodbye to the chiefs. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa still has a National Awami Party, not the only representative party. Middle -class politics has been dominated in Punjab and now Sindh has gone on the same degree.
The number of lawyers in Sindh has increased substantially and these lawyers are the descendants of the Dhakans, it is a welcome thing. It should be sincerely accepted, those who want to be free from the clutches of the PPP and their spokesperson, let the decisions be made here. For the entire fifty years, the PPP has ruled Sindh.
Now that the world is in the grip of change, there is no place in this change of elders. Now the Sindhis need better governance, but efforts have to be made not to create separatist politics like Balochistan. We will also have people who will be the agents of other countries and they will try to maintain an atmosphere of violence here and the PPP can take such steps to maintain their power. Today, this movement is healthy. Now Sindh cannot run through artificial leadership, in the name of Bhutto.
