Three government officials have said that the purpose of these tariff concessions is to give exemption on goods for which India is dependent on American imports. It includes dish antennas and wood pulp. This step is also in line with India’s domestic production schemes.

According to one of the officials, the objective of the Modi-Trump meeting is to avoid the situation like a business dispute between the US-China. Under Trump’s strict trade policies, he imposed a 10 percent tariff on China, which was also seen on global trade. In response to this, China had increased the fee on American energy.

However, according to the report, trade and defense cooperation will be discussed between the two countries, but a wide discussion will be done later on the tariff. Trump had demanded to buy American -made security equipment from India to establish a fair trade relationship with the US.
