The Prime Minister directed to further reduce the electricity rates for the electricity consumers and speed up the implementation of the plan regarding the future electricity generation projects.
According to Express News, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a review meeting was held on future electricity production projects in the country, electricity sector, especially the transmission system.
The meeting was briefed on new proposed power projects, progress on construction of ongoing projects and ongoing reforms of the power sector in the country.
The meeting was also apprised of the current demand and capacity of electricity. The meeting was also apprised of progress on dismantling of import fueled power plants and transmission system reforms.
The Prime Minister issued instructions to complete all the steps for the reforms of the electricity sector within a specified period.

The Prime Minister said that in future low-cost power projects should be given priority, and local resources should be given priority for power generation projects.

The Prime Minister said that hydropower projects are sources of low-cost electricity that will provide environment-friendly and affordable electricity to the user. The current capacity of electricity should also be transferred to solar energy. Electricity is being generated and Pakistan is a fortunate country in that the country has vast potential for solar energy.
The Prime Minister was also apprised of the progress in eliminating inefficient power plants that generate less electricity from more fuel.
The Prime Minister directed that obsolete power plants that produce less electricity with more fuel should be closed immediately, the closure of such power plants will not only save the valuable foreign exchange spent on fuel import but also the cost of electricity for the consumer. will be less.
The Prime Minister said that they are deliberately trying to create obstacles in the reforms of the electricity sector, immediate action should be taken against them, the implementation of the ongoing reforms in the electricity transmission system should be accelerated, the electricity transmission system should be It should be built on modern lines according to international standards.
The Prime Minister said that in terms of the production cost of electricity, the implementation of the modern technology system for the selection and transmission of low-cost electricity should be ensured soon.
