PTA to conduct cell spectrum public sale for AJK, GB


Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will conduct a spectrum public sale for next-generation cell companies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on September 28.

According to the Information Memorandum for the Spectrum Auction for Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) in AJK and GB 2021, PTA obtained bids from CMPAK (Zong), PMCL (Jazz), PTML (Ufone) and Telenor Pakistan on Wednesday for each 1800MHz and 2100MHz spectrum bands, mentioned a information launch issued on Thursday.

After scrutiny of submitted bids, PTA declared all 4 bidders to be certified. The public sale for the 1800MHz band shall be performed on September 28 in step with the public sale rules revealed within the Information Memorandum whereas no digital public sale shall be performed for the 2100MHz band.

The spectrum public sale will present improved high quality of service to the customers of AJK and GB and improve protection footprint for Voice and Data companies which can positively influence the tourism sector of the areas.

PTA is conducting the public sale course of with the help of an internationally reputed advisor three way partnership of Telconet and Frontier Economics who’re onboard since April 2021.
