Police arrested 24 PTI workers, including PTI leaders, who were protesting against not being allowed to meet the founder PTI outside the Karachi Press Club, who were released after some time.
According to Express News, PTI Karachi Division protested outside the Karachi Press Club after not being allowed to meet Imran Khan, at the end of which the police cracked down.
Before the protest of PTI leaders and workers, a heavy contingent of police arrived outside the Karachi Press Club and then stormed PTI Sindh president and former member of the National Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and took them to the police station.
According to the PTI spokesperson, the police arrested more than two dozen workers including Dowa Khan, Moazzam Khan, Yasir Baloch, Anwar Mehdi, Raza Yasir, while the women workers were also detained and transferred to the police station.
It should be noted that PTI had called for a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club on Friday against not meeting its jailed founder Imran Khan.
A heavy police force was deployed outside the Karachi Press Club to stop the demonstration. A large number of women police officers were also present on the occasion.
The roads around the press club were closed to general traffic by police with buses and minibuses while the traffic was diverted through alternative routes.
After Friday prayers, some women workers gathered outside the Karachi Press Club. who demanded a meeting with the PTI founder and his release. Later PTI managed to reach the press club under the leadership of Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh.
Male and female leaders and workers participated in the rally. PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh addressed the workers after reaching the press club and said that we will continue our protest to meet the founder and to release him.
On this occasion, the workers raised slogans, to stop the protest, the police started detaining the protestors. When the activists started running to avoid police arrests, a large number of male and female police officers approached the participants.
The police detained many leaders and workers including PTI Sindh president Halim Adil Sheikh and shifted them to nearby police stations. Women police officers also detained many PTI women leaders and workers and shifted them to Women Police Station.
On this occasion, the press club became a battlefield and the confrontation between the police and the protesters continued for a long time.
Sindh Assembly member of PTI Sajid Hussain Mir told the media that PTI was holding a peaceful protest to meet its founder Imran Khan who was imprisoned in jail.
He said that the police detained more than 20 male and female leaders and activists including Haleem Adil Sheikh. We condemn these arrests and we are taking legal steps to release our leaders and activists.
According to the statement of PTI Sindh spokesperson, there was a massive protest outside the Karachi Press Club against the closure of PTI’s meetings with its founder Imran Khan. On this occasion, the police raided the PTI leaders and arrested PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh and others.
More than two dozen activists including Dowa Khan, Moazzam Khan, Yasir Baloch, Anwar Mehdi, Raza Yasir are among those arrested. The police also arrested PTI women and shifted them to the police station.
Police confirmed that PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh and other leaders were shifted to Predi police station. On this occasion PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh has said that the whole nation has one demand to meet Imran Khan, we had a peaceful protest but the police attacked the workers. We will not tolerate this cruelty anymore.
In this regard, SSP South Mehzoor Ali said that the police detained several PTI leaders and workers. Further action in this regard will be as per law.
The spokesperson of PTI has announced that the protest against the suspension of meetings with Imran Khan will be continued across Sindh.
A spokesperson of PTI Karachi told Express that in the protest outside the Karachi Press Club, the police detained 24 leaders and workers, including the party’s Sindh president Haleem Adil Shaikh, 5 women, who have been released.
