Public options invited for amending Motor Vehicle Rules relating to registration of recent autos, driving licences

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Thursday invited options and feedback from all stakeholders together with common public on the proposed modification within the Motor Vehicle Rules relating to registration of recent autos, driving licences, and recall of previous autos. 

The draft Notification no. 185(E) covers part 4-28 of the MVAA. It covers the next vital features: a) Use of Electronic varieties and paperwork (Medical  Certificate, Learners License, Surrender of DL, Renewal of DL), b) Online learner’s License, c) National Register, d) Dealer level Registration, e) Renewal of Registration 60 days in advance, f) Temporary registration for 06 months with extensions of 30 days (Bodybuilding and so on), g) Trade certificates – digital, h) Alteration, retro fitment to autos and tailored autos, i) Insurance in case of Altered autos.

The different draft Notification no. 186(E) covers part 39-40 of the MVAA. It consists of features like: a) Recall Policy of faulty vehicles–i. Procedure for Recall, ii. process to element Investigating Officer, iii.Investigation Procedure- time-bound method  (06months)
iv. Role of Testing Agencies; b) Obligations of Manufacturers, Importers & Retrofitters, c) Accreditation of Testing companies.
