Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping attended an important event in Moscow on Thursday, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Nazi German defeat in World War II.
On the occasion, Putin described the Ukrainian war as a new struggle against ‘New Nazism’, saying that Russia and China are united to protect historical truth. He said that the two countries stand against modern -day degeneration and militancy.
Chinese President Xi Jinping described the Russian president as his “dear friend”, saying that China and Russia stand against unilateral measures and global bullying, and support a multi -polar global system.
Shi Jinping added: “We will combine the true history of World War II, defend the dignity of the UN institution and protect the interests of developing countries.”
More than 24 foreign leaders attended the occasion, but the presence of Shi Jinping was significant as it was a practical demonstration of the “nine limits partnership” between the two countries.
Ukraine, on the other hand, has appealed to governments around the world not to send its troops to the Moscow parade because it would be equivalent to supporting the Russian position. However, China continues to buy large quantities of oil and gas to support Russia’s economy.
