
Tight security arrangements have been made for the One Day International cricket match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
According to the details, both the teams will face each other in the second day-night one-day match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium at two o’clock on the day.
CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani said that more stringent measures have been taken by the Rawalpindi Police to ensure foolproof security.
According to Khalid Hamdani, it has been decided to keep the hotels closed around the stadium and route from Faizabad to the double road turn, while technical sweeping of the hostels was done and the residents were reconfirmed.
Carts and fruit and food stalls have also been banned till the end of the match.
Bonds are also being taken from the owners and residents of hotels and buildings in the double road turn from Faizabad and around the stadium.
Additional plainclothes Special Branch personnel have also been deployed at various points including buildings and transport bases.
More than 5500 officers and men of Rawalpindi Police are deployed for security duties. More than 350 officers and wardens will perform duty for traffic management.
The visiting team Sri Lanka has been given the status of State Guest. The teams have been kept under tight guard by Pak Rangers and Police Commandos.
Senior officers have been directed to check and brief the security forces in the field.
Snipers have been deployed on the rooftops of high-rise buildings around the stadium and route.
Monitoring is being done by CCTV cameras for which a separate control room has been set up. Elite and Dolphin squads along with police mobiles are patrolling around the stadium.
The CPO further said that effective traffic arrangements have been made for the convenience of the citizens.

During the movement of cricket teams, the Medo bus will be temporarily closed for one hour in the twin cities.
The three Meru stations of Rahmanabad, Shamsabad and Faizabad will remain permanently closed during the match. Medo bus will remain operational non-stop at the closed stations.
To ensure security in Medo buses, two officers will be posted from Chandni Chowk to IJP station and from IJP to Chandni Chowk station.
