Reiteration of the Prime Minister’s commitment against corruption on the International Anti-Corruption Day

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, in his special message on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day, reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicate corruption and urged all citizens to play their role in establishing a transparent and accountable society.

The Prime Minister said that this day, celebrated on December 9, reminds us that there is a need to strengthen global efforts against corruption.

Appreciating this year’s theme “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”, he said that the youth generation can play a key role in eradicating corruption and establishing a transparent system.

He further said that corruption is a serious challenge to the economy and social structure of any country. It deprives nations of their potential and deprives people of the benefits of equal opportunity and fair governance.

The Prime Minister said that due to corruption, development resources cannot be used properly, which increases inequality and affects the delivery of public services. This results in a lack of trust between the government and the citizens.

He emphasized that his government is committed to fighting corruption at all levels. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other law enforcement agencies are taking action against corrupt elements to end the looting of public resources.

The Prime Minister also appreciated the active role of the media and said that the involvement of the media is indispensable in the promotion of transparency and accountability.

He appealed to all Pakistanis on the occasion of the day to support the government in its campaign against corruption and strive for a Pakistan where the rule of law and accountability are guaranteed for all.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that let us unite and create a future where public resources are used effectively for the welfare of the people and every citizen can live on the basis of justice and honesty.
