The Embassy of India in Laos on Monday (January 27, 2025) informed that it has rescued 67 Indian youth who were trafficked to cyber scam centers operating in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (GTSEZ) in Bokao province of Laos. . These youth were being forced to work under threats from criminal syndicates.
“The Embassy of India successfully rescued 67 Indian youth who were trafficked to cyber scam centers in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (GTSEZ) of Laos. Food and living arrangements
Embassy officials responded quickly to the requests for assistance and provided the necessary assistance, which included traveling to the GTSEZ and working with Lao authorities to complete the necessary procedures and paperwork. The Embassy arranged for their travel from Bokao to Vientiane and also arranged for their food and accommodation.
Ambassador met the rescued youth
India’s Ambassador to Laos, Prashant Agarwal met the rescued youth and discussed the challenges faced by them. He assured the youth of their safety and assured the Embassy’s help in the entire process of returning to India. Aggarwal said, “I assured them of their safety and told them to give high priority to the process of returning to India. Also, I advised them to file a complaint against the agents who had cheated them.”
