Lahore:
In Punjab, every citizen’s mobile phone has become a Safe City camera. Under the Safe Punjab Vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Punjab Safe Cities Authority has taken important steps for the safety of citizens.
This ground-breaking project aims to share video evidence of serious incidents instantly with Safe City, so that response times can be reduced and help can arrive sooner. In this regard, Safe City’s public safety app has added an innovative “Connect to PSCA” feature, through which citizens will be able to connect their mobile cameras directly to the Safe City control room.
Under this feature, citizens will be able to instantly provide live video of any important or emergency event to Safe City, through which the actual situation can be assessed immediately.
According to the Safe City spokesperson, the Safe City Officer will send a special link to the instant live feed to the citizen on calling the emergency helpline 15. As soon as the link is opened, the live camera of the citizen’s mobile will be directly connected to the Safe City control room, through which the situation of the incident can be seen in real-time and immediate assistance can be provided.
The spokesperson has clarified that this service is only for use in emergency situations and citizens are requested to keep the mobile location on so that the exact location can be identified. He added that citizens should not share unnecessary videos, as the feature is only meant to ensure emergency assistance and timely action.
