Rohit Sharma named ODI captain as India announce South Africa squad

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma will captain India in each white-ball codecs, cricket selectors stated Wednesday, as they named the Test squad for this month’s South Africa tour.

Known as “The Hitman” due to his highly effective tons of and six-hitting, Sharma took over the T20 facet in November after India’s dismal displaying on the World Cup in Dubai and led a collection sweep at home in opposition to New Zealand.

The 34-year-old changed Virat Kohli, who stepped down as short-format skipper in September citing his “immense workload”, and who has now yielded the ODI captaincy.
