Russia India s 400 missile systems delay sukhoi 30 mki t 90 tank spares know full detail

India-Russia Relations: India has been Russia’s largest defense equipment importer for decades. The purchase of many major weapons like missiles, fighter jets, tanks, and rifles has increased the strength of the Indian Armed Forces. Russian weapons have played an important role in helping India win many wars. But after the Ukraine war there has been a big change in the situation.

In 2018, India had signed a contract to purchase 5 S-400 air defense systems from Russia under an agreement worth Rs 40,000 crore. Till now, 3 systems have been received by India and there is a delay in the supply of the remaining 2 systems. Russia has recently indicated that India will be able to get these systems only by 2026. But at present delays are being seen.

Lack of spare parts is a big problem
India is facing serious problems in getting spare parts for important weapons like Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet and T-90 tank from Russia. The shortage of spare parts for the main battle tanks of the Indian Army has affected their efficiency. Apart from this, spare parts of these fighter jets which are important for the Indian Air Force are also not available on time.

impact of ukraine war
The Russian defense industry is currently completely focused on the Ukraine war. A large number of Russian S-400 systems and T-90 tanks have been destroyed in the war. Russia is now focusing on their compensation and the priority of its army. American and British missiles have strengthened the Ukrainian army, due to which Russia has suffered heavy losses.

Strategic challenges for India
The delay in arms supply from Russia amid increasing military challenges from China and Pakistan has affected India’s preparedness. At the same time, Russia is now dependent on China for military technology. This is an alarm bell for India. India has put its relations with America at stake by purchasing arms from Russia. But Russia is proving unsuccessful in fulfilling its promises.

Sanctions on Russia and the state of the defense industry
US sanctions imposed on Russia have seriously affected its defense industry, disrupting the supply of military technology. Apart from this, questions are being raised on Russia’s trustworthiness.

India’s response and upcoming plans
India is making every possible effort to ensure timely supplies from Russia. For this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently raised this issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is going to visit Russia next week to talk about related matters. Where talks will be held regarding the supply of the remaining S-400 system and other spare parts from Russia.

What is India’s alternative strategy?
India has been increasing its purchase of arms from western countries in the last decade. However, Russia’s share is still 36%. Emphasis is being increased on indigenous defense production, so that dependence on imports is reduced.
