
Vladimir Putin about his Rule : Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed to have taken Russia out of the “brink of the abyss” during his 25 years in power. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the one-year closing conference on Thursday (December 19). During this, Putin said that from 1991 to 1999, Russian President Boris Yeltsin was well accepted by the world as long as he did not harm the interests of others.
BBC journalist Steve Rosenberg asked President Putin during the press conference whether he protected Russia. In response to this question, Putin said, “I did not just protect Russia. I think we’ve pulled ourselves back from the edge of the abyss. Because whatever was happening with Russia was leading us to completely lose our sovereignty and without sovereignty Russia cannot exist as an independent state.”
Putin said, “Western leaders had patted Yeltsin on the back, but when Yeltsin spoke in support of Yugoslavia and expressed his opinion against the attack on Belgrade, Western countries criticized him and dropped their support.
Putin also said that he made every effort to make Russia an independent and sovereign state that could protect its national interests. Putin believes that sovereignty is most important for Russia and he has taken many necessary steps to maintain it.
