Russian forces launched drone strikes on Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkif, on Friday, killing at least 50 people, including an 11 -year -old girl.
According to a foreign news agency, local officials say Russia targeted the civilian population in the attacks and severely damaged several residential buildings, vehicles and urban infrastructure.
The governor of Kharkif confirmed that after the attacks, fire broke out at several places, which created an atmosphere of panic in the area. The injured have been shifted to local hospitals, where the condition of several people is reported to be critical.
The attacks have occurred at a time when Ukraine and the United States have reached an important agreement on the search for minerals in Ukraine. Russia’s attacks could potentially be a response to the deal, analysts say.
It should be noted that the Kharkif is located near the Russian border and since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the city has been constantly under Russian bombing and drone strikes. In recent weeks, Russian attacks have once again intensified, which not only caused casualties but also affecting urban life.
Meanwhile, the United States has said that it is continuing to negotiate with both Russia and Ukraine to ease the tensions, but the situation in the battlefield is still worsening.
