Putin On Make In India: Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘India First Policy’ and ‘Make in India’ initiative. Putin expressed Russia’s desire to set up manufacturing operations in India. Addressing the 15th ‘VTB Russia Calling Investment Forum’ in Moscow, President Putin drew parallels between Russia’s ‘Import Substitution Programme’ and India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The two-day forum started on Wednesday in Moscow.
The Russian President said, Prime Minister Modi also has a similar program called ‘Make in India’. We are also ready to set up our manufacturing operation in India. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Government of India is creating stable conditions under the policy of keeping the country paramount. We believe that investing in India is profitable. He highlighted that Russian oil giant Rosneft has recently invested $20 billion in India. The President of Russia advocating investment in India is like a hot pepper for China.
‘Make in India’ strengthens India’s position in the global economy
Putin said that the ‘Make in India’ initiative, launched with the aim of promoting manufacturing and attracting foreign investment, has played an important role in strengthening India’s position in the global economy. The Russian President is going to visit India in the beginning of 2025. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said recently, “You know, there is an agreement between our leaders to meet each other once a year. Now it is our turn to go to New Delhi or some other place in India in 2025. “
Received PM Modi’s invitation
Yuri Ushakov said, “Besides, I would also like to say that PM Modi’s invitation has been received and it will definitely be considered positively. So possibly at the beginning of the year we will set the dates.”
