Russia-Ukraine War: Many Indian citizens are risking their lives in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Recently, the death of Binil TB (32) from Kerala has created deep concern in the Indian community. He and his relative Jain TK were fighting in Ukraine on behalf of Russia. Binil died in the Ukrainian drone attack while Jain was seriously injured.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia, President Vladimir Putin had promised that Indian soldiers fighting in Ukraine would be sent back. However, this promise has not been fulfilled yet. Binil’s case has made it clear that the situation of Indian soldiers in Russia is very serious and their safety has not been ensured.
The plight of families and the role of the embassy
According to the Indian Express report, the families of Binil and Jain had appealed to the Indian Embassy for help, but no action could be taken without the permission of the Russian Army. Binil’s wife contacted the Indian Embassy in Moscow, but by the time the information was received, Binil had died. This incident has fallen upon those families like a mountain of sorrow.
Obstacles in return of Indians from Russia
The Russian army is not allowing Indian citizens to return. Many Indian citizens who had gone to Russia as support staff have been sent to the battlefield. This makes it clear that Indian citizens are being fraudulently included in the war, due to which the risk to their lives has increased.
Russia’s warning and fear of third world war
The warnings issued by Russia have further increased global tension. This situation has become even more difficult for Indian citizens, because they are trapped in the middle of the war and are mentally and physically exhausted. Binil’s last message clearly expressed this difficulty in that he was appealing for an exit from the war zone but no solution was found.
