S jaishanakar: India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Friday set a strong example of the strength of democratic values in India during an event in Munich. In response to a question related to democracy, he showed his ink finger and told how democracy is completely safe in India.
S Jaishankar reached Germany directly after a US tour on Friday. Here he was to participate in the Munich Security Conference. Democracy was discussed in a session of this conference. During this time, when S Jaishankar was asked a question related to ‘Danger of democracy worldwide’, he answered it in a very different way.
Jaishankar showed his ink finger in response to this and said, ‘I will start by raising my finger. Do not consider it bad. This index is finger. The mark you are looking at on my nail, it tells that I have just voted. Elections have just been held in our state (Delhi). Last year, we had national elections here. Out of about 90 crore voters in our national elections, 70 crores cast their votes. We count votes in a single day. There is no dispute when the results come. It means to say that our democracy is very optimistic.

‘I don’t think democracy is in danger’
Jaishankar said, ‘Ever since we started voting, since then our voting percentage has increased by 20 percent. Therefore, I disagree that democracy is in danger worldwide. I mean we are living well, we are voting well.
