Responding to an observation that Hollywood often frames performers as wanting to cross between acting and singing, Slater clarified that Grande does not fit the usual narrative. “She’s incredible but she’s not a singer who wants to be an actress, or an actress who wants to be a singer. She’s just the best at both,” he said, stressing that her talent spans both disciplines rather than being an extension of one.
The pair first met on the set of Wicked in 2022, and their relationship became public in July 2023, at a time when both had recently separated from their spouses. The news drew significant public scrutiny, something the couple has since avoided by keeping their relationship private.
Speculation about the couple surfaced again after they were not standing next to each other in a cast photo at the film’s London premiere, prompting rumours of a split. TMZ later confirmed they are still together but choosing to maintain distance from public commentary.
