Police in Punjab consider the killing of Shiromani Akali Dal youth chief Vikramjeet Singh might have been an act of revenge related to his suspected ties to gangsters.

The former Students Organisation of India president, often known as Vicky Midhukhera, was killed in broad daylight in Mohali on Saturday.

“The assailants had sprayed bullets at Midhukhera and around nine bullets had hit him. It could have been out of personal enmity. Although we are working on other theories, revenge killing seems to be the plausible reason,” a police officer stated.

Sources within the police stated that they have been investigating the hyperlink with the homicide of Rana Kandowalia, a gangster, who was allegedly killed by Lawrence Bishnoi gang at a personal hospital in Amritsar final week.

“The rival gangs of Bishnoi were aware of Midhukhera’s political connections and believed that Midhukhera used to help Bishnoi. This killing could also have a link with the killing of Rana Kandhowala. Bishnoi gang was allegedly involved in killing Rana. So the rival gang could have targeted Midhukhera for avenging the killing,” the officer stated.

Sources stated that although Midhukhera was by no means instantly concerned in any legal exercise, his closeness with Bishnoi might have made him a goal.Another police officer stated that Midhukhera was a mushy goal and by killing Vicky, the rivals needed to deal a blow to the Bishnoi gang.

Mohali SSP Satinder Singh stated that their groups have been engaged on the case and nothing extra could possibly be disclosed at this level.

Midhukhera was cremated at his village of Midhukhera in Muktsar district on Sunday.
