
Government of Sindh has permanently closed the doors of education and bureaucrats to become Vice -Chancellor in government universities over 62 years of age.
According to Express News, the Sindh government has set the age limit for becoming Vice -Chancellor 62 years and has been made a regular part of the new Act passed by the Sindh Assembly which has now become a law.
The Act was released on February 27, 2025, in the form of a gazette, which was approved with several amendments, including making the bureaucrats vice -chancellor from the Sindh Assembly, which included the aforementioned clause and approved all 30 government universities in Sindh.
The Amendment Act, 2025, was also added to the aforementioned clause. In the Act, the only university of the law in Sindh “Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law” (Zabul) has been exempted by the Vice -Chancellor’s application on the post.
For the judges of the Sindh High Court, the age limit is 63 while the limit is 67 years for the judges of the Supreme Court, but if any expert education or bureaucrat requests in the aforementioned university, its age limit will be only 62 years.
The Act has included the Vice -Chancellor of any government university as the Vice -Chancellor, as the Vice -Chancellor, once again extended the extension for the next term.
Under the Act, now if a specialist or bureaucrat is appointed Vice -Chancellor at the age of 62, he will complete the first term of his position in 65 years and under this he will be extended for the next term, he will be the Vice -Chancellor for 69 years.
Earlier, the 62 -year limit was only in the rolls, while in the past the limit has been 65 years.
It is to be remembered that the aforementioned act has opened the way to make the bureaucrat a Vice -Chancellor, which requires an academic to be a Phil Professor with PhD but “PAS, XPCS, PSS and PMS cadre officers to apply for Masters Degree on the basis of Masters Degree.
