Supreme Court member Law and Justice Commission Makhdoom Ali Khan resigned on the approval of the 27th Amendment

Islamabad:

Senior advocate of the Supreme Court, Advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan, resigned as a member of the Law and Justice Commission.

According to Express News, Advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan tendered his resignation to the Chief Justice of Pakistan in which he said that he cannot remain a member of such an institution which is based on the promise of reforming the law but is deprived of an independent judiciary.

In the text of the resignation, it is said that without an independent judiciary, any law reform is neither possible nor effective, continuing in these conditions will be tantamount to self-deception.

Advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan further wrote that the 27th constitutional amendment completely sank the ship of independent judiciary.

In his resignation, he wrote a poem by poet Mustafa Zaidi:

In the city that has fallen, words are at a loss for what to say
