The Surat grew to become the primary metropolis within the state to get ‘Swachh Bharat Mission Water Plus City’ certification of Swachh Survekshan 2021, by Ministry of Urban Housing and Development. The new class of water plus certification was launched in Swach Survekshan 2021, and its pointers and norms have been declared in May 2020.
SMC officers stated that the motive behind water plus protocol pointers was to make sure no untreated wastewater needs to be launched into the atmosphere and it needs to be scientifically handled earlier than launched.
