About five years after Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) closed the case and declared actress Ria Chakraborty and her family innocent.
Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead in his flat in Bandra area of Mumbai on June 14, 2020. His death not only shook the artistic world, but at the same time there were many speculations and accusations, including extraordinary claims like black magic. Since then, the matter has been under investigation.
After its investigation, the CBI concluded that Sushant’s death was the result of suicide, and that no other person had any hand in it. The agency has declared Ria Chakraborty and his family free from any criminal act.
After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, his father KK Singh filed a case in Patna, Bihar, in which Ria Chakraborty was accused of mentally disturbing his son, controlling medicines, financially exploiting and eventually forcing suicide. In response, Ria Chakraborty also made allegations against Sushant’s family.
The CBI took over the matter in August 2020. During the interrogation, the agency inspected the scene from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), which seized a laptop, a hard disk, a canon camera, and two mobile phones.
The forensic team of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) also confirmed that the death of Sushant Singh Rajput was not the result of murder, but it was a suicide case. The CBI investigated for more than four years, but no evidence was found that someone had forced Sushant to commit suicide.
During the interrogation, more than 20 people, including Ria Chakraborty, were questioned. The CBI has declared all the nominees in both FIRs, including Ria Chakraborty, his parents and brother, innocent.
The CBI has submitted a close report of the case, and the Bandra Magistrate Court has fixed the next hearing for April 8. After the approval of a close report by the court, the matter will be completely closed.
The issue of the death of Sushant Singh Rajput caused a shock not only for Bollywood but for the whole country. Now that the CBI has completed its investigation and declared Ria Chakraborty as innocent, the case has reached its logical end. However, it is a tragic chapter for Sashhant fans and family that may never be completely closed.
