Pakistani singer and rapper Talha Anjum has overtaken Atif Aslam to become the most listened to local artist of Pakistan in 2024. Before this, Atif Aslam was at number one in this list for three years.
According to Spotify’s list of the most popular Pakistani artists, songs and trends of 2024, rapper Talha Anjum is at number one, Umeer is at number two, and Atif Aslam is at number three.
Here it is interesting and surprising that the emperor of Qawwali, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who died in 1997, is also included in the top five.
According to Spotify, the number of local music listeners in Pakistan has increased by 54% this year. India’s Arjit Singh has retained the top spot among the most listened to artists globally, followed by Pritam, Karan Ojla, Shubhu, and Sidhu Musewala in the top five.
Talha Anjum is sixth, Umeer is ninth, and Atif Aslam is ranked tenth among the popular artists of Pakistan, which shows the growing popularity of local music.
The most played local song in 2024 was Manu and Anwaral Khalid’s ‘Jhool’. Among the international songs, Anu Jain’s ‘Hasan’ was the most listened to, while ‘Jhool’ was second and Anu Jain’s ‘Jo Tum Mere Ho’ was third.
A unique blend of hip-hop, Sufi, and pop was seen in some of the most popular albums by Pakistani artists. Umeer’s album ‘Rock Star Without A Guitar’ came first, Talha Anjum’s ‘Open Letter’ second, and Imran Khan’s ‘Unforgettable’ third. This list also includes Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Reformed’ and Asim Azhar’s ‘Be Meant’.
