Taliban kills 20 Afghan authorities troops amid ongoing peace talks


Fighting between Afghan forces and Taliban militants within the jap Nangarhar Province on Thursday has left at the very least 20 authorities troops lifeless. The violence comes as peace talks continued in an effort to finish the 19-year battle.

Around 30 Taliban fighters died within the clashes, Nangarhar governor spokesman Ataullah Khogyani mentioned. The militant group has not commented.

“If the enemy is thinking that they can conquer everything by force, it is a dream, it is a fantasy, it is impossible and it is madness”, performing protection minister Asadullah Khalid mentioned on Thursday.

The peace talks are a part of a February deal between the United States and the Taliban. They started in Qatar on September 12 following a prolonged dispute over prisoner swaps. Under the US-Taliban deal, a swap of about 5,000 Taliban prisoners and 1,000 detained Afghan safety personnel was agreed as a confidence-building measure forward of the peace talks.

Since signing the settlement, the Taliban have saved a promise to not assault US and NATO troops, however they’ve carried out common assaults on Afghan safety forces.

Negotiators are anticipated to deal with the cease-fire, the rights of ladies and minorities, and the disarming of tens of 1000’s of Taliban fighters and militias loyal to warlords, a few of them aligned with the federal government.
