Famous Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s new film ‘Dhirendra’ got caught in a legal dispute a few days before its release.
In the Delhi High Court, the family of late Major Mohit Sharma has requested that the release of the film be stopped immediately as according to them the film seems to be inspired by Major Sharma’s life and secret missions, his family’s permission was not obtained for this film.
The petition said that if the film includes elements of real life or missions, it is a violation of the personal rights of the deceased and the privacy of the family and could potentially create national security issues.
The film’s director, Aditya Dhad, was quick to clarify that the film had nothing to do with Major Sharma and that any future biopic would require the permission of the family and the Indian Army.
On the other hand, Noreen Aslam, the widow of martyred Sindh Police officer Chaudhry Aslam, has also reacted strongly to this film.
Noreen Aslam criticized the Indian filmmakers and said that the film portrays Chaudhry Aslam’s character and Rehman Dakit as a hero and portrays the political party PPP vaguely. Noreen Aslam warned that she reserves the right to take legal action if any propaganda is made against Chaudhry Aslam in the film.
The film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshay Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. The release of the film is expected on December 5, but due to the current legal situation, the release of the film is uncertain.
