On the third day of the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town, Pakistani cricket team captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam created a new history by batting responsibly.
Pakistan team was dismissed for 194 runs in the first innings and fell victim to the follow-on. After the follow-on, Shan Masood and Babar Azam batted brilliantly and provided an opening stand of 205 runs. His 205-run stand not only withstood the pressure of the follow-on but also gave the visitors a glimmer of hope to level the series.
Shawn’s brilliant century, his sixth in Test cricket, and Babar’s 81, which included 10 fours, were instrumental in keeping South Africa on the back foot. The duo’s display of determination and courage on a pitch that is now easy to bat on has left the hosts helpless.
When the partnership reached 134 runs between the two batsmen on the third day of the second Test in Cape Town, they broke the record of 133 runs set by Yasir Hameed and Younis Khan at Centurion during the 2006–07 season and set a new world record. Set a record.
