The federal government has issued an amendment ordinance of the Education Boards Act and under this, the power to appoint the chairman has been given to the Prime Minister.
According to the ordinance issued by the federal government, the authority to appoint the chairman of the federal education board has been given to the prime minister instead of the federal cabinet and the requirement of two terms for the chairman of the federal education board has also been abolished.
According to the ordinance, the chairman of the Federal Education Board could be appointed for the first two terms, but now the word renewable term has been added in place of the term, according to which the chairman of the Federal Education Board can be given several consecutive terms. Similarly, the Chairman of the Federal Education Board can be appointed for a renewable term.
The Chairman of the Federal Education Board will be appointed by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and any officer of grade 20 or above can be appointed by the Chairman of the Federal Education Board on deputation. Under the Act, the Board of Governors of the Federal Education Board has also been expanded.
Chairman of IT Department of NUST and Director of National Curriculum Council and Chief Executive of Software Export Board have also been included in the Board of Governors of Federal Education Board.
According to the sources, the age restriction of 54 years has also been abolished in the amendment ordinance regarding the appointment of the chairman.
