Beirut: Lebanese resistance organization Hezbollah has officially announced the dates of the funerals and burial of its two martyred leaders Syed Hassan Nasrullah and Hashim Safiuddin.
Hezbollah’s current Secretary General, Sheikh Naeem Qasim, confirmed in a video statement that the funeral of the two leaders would be offered on Sunday, February 23.
Sheikh Naeem Qasim said that his funeral could not be held publicly due to the two months of war after the martyrdom of Syed Hassan Nasrullah, which led to him being buried. Now, after the situation improves, his funeral will be offered at a large public gathering.
He further said that the funeral prayer of Hashim Safiuddin, who is considered to be his successor, will be offered on the same day. Hashim Safiuddin was elected Secretary General of Hezbollah a few days after the martyrdom of Hassan Nasrullah, but he was also martyred even before the formal announcement.
According to the organization, Syed Hassan Nasrullah will be buried in Beirut, while Hashim Safiuddin will be buried in his hometown of Dir -ul -Nahr.
Remember that Syed Hassan Nasrullah was attacked by the Israeli army on September 27 last year at the Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut, while Hashim Safiuddin was martyred in a severe bombing of Zionist forces on October 23.
